Free Admissions to Royal Residences in Poland
November may be the best time for History Lovers to visit Poland
For the 5th time, four royal residences in Poland will offer free admission during the month of November in what is called in Polish “Darmowy Listopad w Rezydencjach Królewskich” (Free November in Royal Residences). This year, a group of four Polish Royal Residences – the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Royal Łazienki Museum, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów and the Wawel Royal Castle in Krakow – make their collections open to public free of charge.
On this occasion, the royal residences offer a free tour of historic interiors as well as many attractions associated with it, including museum lessons, guided tours, workshops, lectures, concerts and games for children.
The initiative from the Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego – Minister of Culture and National Heritage – has the goal of increasing participation in culture and it is addressed to anybody interested in culture, especially to children, youth and seniors.
Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów
Wilanów Palace Museum invites you to explore the unique baroque mansion built for King Jan III in 1677, full of unique works of art and souvenirs of the inhabitants of the palace. During weekends the programme includes games, workshops and guided tours at 11am, focusing on the history and design of the palace interior.
Royal Łazienki Museum
In the Royal Łazienki, you will have the opportunity to see the Palace on the Isle, the Royal Orangery with the Royal Theatre and the Myślewicki Palace. As part of the campaign, visitors are invited to the Long Night tour to the Palace on the Isle and the Old Orangery on each Saturday in November (from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m), meetings with the public under the slogan “Kings and Art”, family workshops, as well as museum lessons for schools
Royal Castle in Warsaw
One of this year’s available exhibition in the Royal Castle located in the Warsaw Old Town is “The Royal Castle – from Destruction to Reconstruction”. The museum has also prepared free museum lessons for students at all levels of education, connected with the King Stanislaw August, as well as the history of the castle and its collections in his era.
Wawel Royal Castle
The Wawel Castle have the following exhibitions available this month: State Rooms, Crown Treasury and Armoury, The Lost Wawel, The Ogiński Tapestries from Słonim and Leonardo da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine”, one of the most valuable paintings in Polish collections.
